2025 Winkelman Advanced Learning Program (ALP) Letter
2025 Winkelman Advanced Learning Program (ALP) Letter
Dear Winkelman Parents and Guardians,
To fulfill our mission and "empower every student," District 31 believes in having differentiated and rigorous education for all students. We believe talent is dynamic and can be found in students of all backgrounds. Our goal is to cultivate growth and provide meaningful learning experiences for each and every student.
Our Talent Development Model in grades K-3 provides all students with biweekly whole-class critical thinking lessons to help identify and nurture emerging strengths. In 4th grade, enrichment in math and English language arts (ELA) is offered through flexible grouping.
Starting in 5th grade, students ready for accelerated learning can participate in our Advanced Learning Program (ALP) for math and/or ELA. Using a comprehensive student profile process, we ensure multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate readiness and receive appropriately challenging instruction through 8th grade.
Placement letters for next school year's math and English language arts classes will be sent electronically to all incoming 5th and 6th grade students the week of May 27.
We invite parents and caregivers to learn more about our District 31 Talent Development and Advanced Learning Program by visiting our website and/or watching this 10 minute video overview.
We also welcome you to review the information from last year's 2024 Parent University events:
